Residents in the Riverview area awoke Friday morning (6/14/2013) with no electricity.
A spokesperson with the Murfreesboro Electric Department told WGNS News that the first call about the outage came in at 6:59. She indicated that homes around the Haynes Drive area of town were effected. Emergency crews had current flowing again in 48-minutes.
Assistant Superintendent of Operations Nick Brown explained, "The outage in the Riverview Subdivision area was caused by a bird on a transformer."
The feathered friend blew a fuse located at the intersection of North Thompson Lane and Haynes Drive. The outage affected approximately 49 people and was restored in 40 – 50 minutes. Since a fuse blew, our SCADA system did not see a substation circuit breaker operation (this is when the entire circuit would be blinked or sustain an outage)."
