A meeting addressed the issue of climate change in America in Murfreesboro on Tuesday evening. WGNS confirmed the meeting was at JoZoara’s Coffee Shop. The meeting was said to be of much significance because volunteers helped plan the National Day of Prayer dealing with Climate Change which will take place on July 11th.
The group behind the meeting was Organizing for Action. The O-F-A supports the legislative agenda the Obama administration has voted on. According to their website, the O-F-A trains the next generation of grassroots organizers and leaders, and helps to organize around local issues in communities like Rutherford County.
Volunteer organizer in Murfreesboro, Cindy Whitaker told WGNS, "True, it is part of Obama's agenda, but O-F-A is definitely a bi-partisan organization. Anyone can join by going to O-F-A website. Obama wants to 1). EPA limits on carbon from power plants 2) double production of clean energies and 3) help prepare citizens for impact of climate change. "
